APT Leadership Institute

Our goal at Allied Physical Therapy is to not only give the patients we treat the best experience possible, but to do the same for the staff members that intern with us. That is why we created the “APT Leadership Institute” in 2010.

This special program was created with three main objectives in mind, to reach maximum potential, to perform with excellence, and to develop future leaders (M.E.D.).

We want our staff and interns to reach their maximum potential in their role at Allied, to create a culture of continually learning, growing and embrace change and innovation.

As we serve our community and treat patients we want to exceed their expectations and perform at our very best to complete our goals with excellence.

Goal setting, focus, and holding each other accountable are the three primary areas we strive for to accomplish our purpose of M.E.D.

Goal Setting, Focus & Accountability

There are three main areas we emphasize to achieve our purpose at our APT Leadership Institute.

Goals Setting: Goal setting is beginning with the end in mind, asking ourselves what needs to be accomplished and how it will be accomplished.  These goals should be in harmony with our mission and the direction of the organization.

Focus: Focus involves spending time on important, but not urgent, goals that we have set for ourselves.  Our Leadership Compass is a tool we use to help us focus by planning daily and weekly.  Focus also involves scheduling times of uninterrupted productive work to achieve our goals.

Accountability:  The Leadership Compass along with an assigned mentor serves as an accountability measure.   Each intern is required to meet regularly with their mentor to approve goals and receive assistance.

Internship Program

Our Internship Program has been established to develop leaders in Physical Therapy and the health professions.  This program involves a four level internship process.

The first level is for those interested in pursuing PT or the health professions.  This level includes shadowing clinicians and assisting with the operations of the clinic.

The second level is a compensated position. The intern is assigned a mentor who will develop and improve the areas of ownership of the intern.  The Leadership Compass will be utilized for focus and accountability.

Interns reach the third level when they are set up with a university that has been accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).  Level III Internship integrates university requirements with the APT Leadership Institute.  Interns will be exposed and trained in specialty services offered by APT.

Level four is a professional position with approval and track to specialty certification with in Physical Therapy.  Successful completion will include fulfilling and passing certification/fellowship examinations.
